Little Dragon - WIP by Khrests Little Dragon - WIP by Khrests
LAST WIP I'm gonna post on DA.
all my doll WIPs will be on www.Torte.tumblr.com now. xD

Anyways. This is my first doll I made going off of a drawing someone did for me. They're happy with it. c: So that's awesome.

They specified everything. Even ordered the fur for it, which should be arriving sometime today. It will be my first, and probably ONLY, soft bodied doll. xD

Requested by someone on FA.

Want one of your own? I'm open for commissions.

Hi! I like this a lot! I'm trying to make my own, can I ask if you used the holes in the arms to sew it to the material?

If you ask I am always happy to talk about how I make my dolls. uwu
you just have to be polite, is all. I am not like other doll makers, I don't hide them away like some great secret. I have explained more than once how to make them to people. c:

Super easy! uwu
the floppy kind like this little dragon are the easiest.

Attaching the head to the body is simple. I JUST made a little tutorial for it here:

here are some good resources:

Amazing!

I've always wanted to make one of these.

Do you bake it in the oven with the tape then? I didn't think you could do that >.> What tape do you use? What sculpty do you think is best for dolls like these?
Hope you don't mind questions! :'D

Thanks!

I don't mind at all! c:
Yep, you bake the sculpey at such a low temperature it's fine. and I use bother super sculpey and super sculpey firm. But more often than not I mix the two together. xD

What is the blue stuff wrapped around the wire? is it just tape to avoid discoloration from the metal?

It is tape, but not to avoid discoloration, it's to smooth the tinfoil so where it points here and there doesn't poke through the clay. c:

Yeah, I kind of wonder if the person who drew it based it on one. xD
After two weeks of sewing I am NEVER making another doll like this. everever.

I hate sewing, that's why I bought a sewing machine :D It's great except for when I sew through my finger :/

Ah! I did that when I made my mom a moose one year. D:
i was HORRIFIED. It was kind of hilarious. xD I am better at hand sewing than using the machine, even if a tad slower.

It hurts like buggery doesn't it, the needle went straight through my fingernail when I did it, I felt like a true blue art student haha.
I think I'm better at machine sewing cottons but hand sewing fur ;) fur hides a multitude of sins

Ohlord. The needle slid off the side of my nail through the skin on my finger, thankfully. I remember when a squirrel bit through my nail, I do not want a repeat of that feeling.

I am about to make myself a fleece pincushion doll. THAT should be interesting. xD

it amazes me how much detail you put into these ;w; ; i'm gathering materials to probably experiment with making my own soon do you use anything specific to sculpt with? and do you bake the feet on the wire body or by themselves?

I use super sculpey. c: But I've always used regular sculpey. Like FIMO it's a Polymer clay.
And I sculpt it on the wire. xD
